£1.2 million drugs haul in Cumbernauld

Drugs worth an estimated street value of £1.2 million pounds have been seized by police following an intelligence led operation on Tuesday, February 4, 2014.

Around 5.30pm on Tuesday, officers searched a commercial premises in an industrial estate in Mid Road, Cumbernauld, under warrant and recovered over two thousand cannabis plants.

Enquiries into the find are continuing. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Michelle Thomson, Cumbernauld Community Investigation Unit, said today: “Police Scotland will continue to pursue those involved in the drugs trade. This is a significant recovery and will certainly have an impact on those involved in the cultivation and further distribution of these drugs.”
