£35k Christmas present to Stanmore House School

A CHEQUE for a phenomenal £35,225 has been handed over to Capability Scotland’s Stanmore House School in Lanark.

The school for youngsters with severe or complex needs got a very welcome early Christmas present thanks to the efforts of Lanarkshire mum Jaci Halliday.

A group of kind fundraisers raised the five-figure sum from a ‘Moving On Up’ Ball they organised at the Alona Hotel this autumn. Over 300 people attended the ball and now the money will be used to by Capability Scotland to develop the services and facilities it provides for young disabled people like Chelsea Halliday, Jaci’s daughter.

Capability Scotland chief executive Dana O’Dwyer said: “We are extremely grateful to Jaci and her team for raising this incredible amount of money.

“Organising a successful event like this requires so much time, energy and hard work and her efforts are very much appreciated by everyone at Capability Scotland and especially all the pupils and staff at Stanmore House School.”
