£7m jobs Fifeline...

A CUMBERNAULD firm has shown the economic downturn who is boss by scooping a high prestige three year contract worth £7 million with one of Scotland's biggest local authorities.

CMS Enviro Systems in Blairlinn have had their tender accepted to fit out windows and doors in Fife's council housing, as part of the Scottish Housing Quality Standard Investment programme.

The news marks a fresh triumph for the fast-growing firm which was recently voted Lanarkshire's greenest business at the Lanarkshire Business Awards.

It was the firm's green credentials which impressed the council who needed the designs to meet exacting standards with regard to major fuel savings and reduced CO2 emissions. The products can also be 100 per cent recycled.

CMS Enviro Systems met and EXCEEDED the tender requirements with their "Envirowindow".

In addition to supplying the windows and doors and recycling existing installations, CMS are bringing a number of other services to the contract including a round-the-clock emergency response, mobile presentation unit; web based tracking technology and asset management system.

Fife Council building services manager John Rodigan had nothing but praise for the Cumbernauld firm.

"Our specification was demanding but not unachievable as CMS have demonstrated. We are delighted to be working with a company as committed to quality and the environment as CMS.

"As well as exceeding our rigorous technical expectations they are extremely customer focussed and offer any number of added value and corporate social responsibility benefits. The new contract has given us a five per cvent saving on the traditional window supply arrangements so we have effectively moved to a far superior window and reduced costs in doing so," said Mr Rodigan.

Andrew Kerr, managing director of CMS Enviro Systems, said: "It's an exciting time for CMS. This is the result of all the hard work and determination of our staff, for which I would like to say a big thank you."

He acknowledged that the faith of the staff and the clients in the product itself was key to the firm's achievement.

"Our success in the current financial climate is evidence of an intelligent client base, who are well aware of our environmental credentials and the life cycle savings our windows offer," said Mr Kerr.
