Public asked to look out for missing Lanark man

Paul Roser (48) was last seen by his son around 05.50 hrs on Thursday June 2 at home at Smyllum Road, Lanark.

Mr Roser is described as 6ft tall, heavy build, blue eyes with grey receding hair and a goatee beard.

When last seen he was wearing a blue Muppets t-shirt, a cream and white checked woollen jumper, navy denim jeans and brown canvas shoes.

Mr Roser is known to frequent a number of bookmakers in the area and also likes to walk in the Falls of Clyde and New Lanark area.

He has previously been missing for several days.

However, his family are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety due to the length of time he has been gone.

Officers at Lanark Police Office would like to speak to anyone who knows of Mr Roser’s present whereabouts or anyone who has seen him since Thursday June 2.

“His background is that he used to be a park ranger.

“He has a very intimate knowledge of New Lanark and the Falls of Clyde area as he used to be employed as a countryside ranger there,” said Sergeant Craig Smith.

Mr Roser disappeared for a short while last year, and later told his family that he had been living rough in that area.

“They thought he was possibly doing the same again, and just taking a few weeks out of day-to-day life, living rough in that area again,” said the sergeant.

But as times went on, their concern grew, and they reported him missing to the police on Sunday.

Now the public are being asked to look out for him.

The police have carried out an initial search, but the Falls of Clyde reserve is vast.

Now they hope walkers, perhaps those on the Clyde Walkway, aware that Mr Roser is being sought, will spot him.

“Our biggest chance is the public out and about in that area,” said Sergeant Smith.

Anyone who does see him and can help trace him is asked to call Police Scotland on the phone line 101 quoting incident number PS-20160619-2424.
