Public information sessions to begin over Owenstown

THE people of Clydesdale are to have their say in the creation of the new town which would initially be bigger than Lanark and could soon rival Carluke’s size.

After years in the planning, the massive Owenstown project, with thousands of new homes plus shops and factories being built in the Douglas Valley, is nearing reality.

The developers are putting their multi-million pound scheme out to public consultation before lodging a formal planning permission application with South Lanarkshire Council, probably in October.

Next month will see a series of public information sessions and displays being held at which all are invited to put their views forward.

These are to be held in Rigside Community Hall on Friday, June 8, Lanark’s Tolbooth on Tuesday, June 12, at the St Bride’s Centre in Douglas on Thursday, June 21 and at Biggar Municipal Hall on Friday, June 22, all between noon and 8pm.
