Pupils bring the Clyde into the classsroom with fish project
Pupils from Lairdsland Primary School have been making waves in Park Burn after releasing fish that they raised in their classroom. It was an exciting day for the pupils who had taken part in the eco-education project - '˜Clyde in the Classroom' '“ which uses the life-cycle of a native Scottish species, the brown trout, to encourage children to engage with nature and protect their local environment.
Lairdsland Primary School is one of 83 schools from the Clyde catchment participating in the project, which is run by the Clyde River Foundation - who provided scientists to assist the children with rearing the fish.
