“I am really looking forward to driving around and seeing everyone there.

“It is going to be a very special day as I have a few friends who are also in the Gala Court.

“My mum and dad and my aunties and uncles have been working hard getting our house decorated; the theme is the Disney film Up.

“I have taken part in some of the school’s entries in the past; I really liked the T in the Park float we had last year.”

Caoimhe’s Champion will be fellow P6 St Athanasius pupil Micah MacDonald.

Micah, who will have a Minecraft theme for his decorated house, continued: “I’m looking forward to Saturday; it is going to be a great day.”

For gala chairwoman Ruby Mitchell and her hard working committee, preparations for the big day are already well in hand.

As with previous years, the huge procession, which this year has a whopping 24 entries, will depart from Sandy Road at 11am with the crowning of Queen Caoimhe taking place at noon with this year’s Crowning Lady being Barbara Mackie.

After the crowning ceremony, there will be a whole host of fun and games for everyone to enjoy in Market Square.
