The ERC money advice team set out to write the self-help pach after becoming aware that some companies were were targetting residents on the phone to help them with PPI claims.

Some of the firms involved, however, were keeping up to 40 per cent of the money claimed.

Councillor Ian McAlpine, the council’s convener for corporate services, said: “The money advice team can provide you with the documentation you need, free of charge, if you have been miss-sold PPI.

“Claiming back PPI with the self-help pack is easy: and it means 100% of the money claimed is yours.”
