Rachael Fossey swaps Braidwood...for Ecuador

MOST teenagers dream of jetting off to Ibiza, Magaluf and Ayia Napa over the summer but one 15-year-old, from Braidwood, is hoping to spend the summer in one of South America’s poorest countries.

Rachael Fossey is hoping to raise the £4,000 needed to go on the month-long Camps International trip to Ecuador where she will help build schools, plant trees and treat local wildlife.

The Hamilton College pupil began her fundraising with a bake sale in the ALVO conference room in Hope Street, Lanark, which raised £145.

Rachael said: “Although I’m a bit nervous about going I’m looking forward to it as I think it will be a life-changing experience for me.”

For further information on how to sponsor Rachael, contact her mum Sarah on 07922 027700 or email [email protected].
