Ralph Barker hits out at council plans to demolish Elvanfoot Suspension Bridge

A CONCERNED Upperward resident has hit out at South Lanarkshire Council over its plans to demolish a suspension bridge.

Ralph Barker (65) is unhappy that Elvanfoot Suspension Bridge, a category B-Listed structure, is under threat.

Although the bridge is not open, Ralph thinks more should be done to save it and similar structures.

He said: “I found out about the plans a couple of days ago.”
