Ray of hope for action on Douglas Water bing

ASSURANCES have been given that the unsightly huge mound of open cast mining spoil dominating Douglas Water will not be a permanent blot on the landscape.

The guarantee from Scottish Coal comes following the Gazette coverage of claims by village residents that the large and growing bund of waste material from the adjoining Broken Cross mine was now so high that the overshadowed hamlet now received an hour’s less daylight.
