Ready, set read for summer challenge

Youngsters are still being encouraged to get involved with this year’s Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge.

Run by The Reading Agency in partnership with library services and Tesco, the challenge involves children aged four to 12 joining their local library and reading six books during the summer holidays.

This year’s theme is Record Breakers, inviting youngsters to discover some real-life achievements featured in the Guinness World Record books.

Councillor Archie Graham, chair of Glasgow Life, said: “An appreciation for books and an enthusiasm for reading can help to open up a number of opportunities for young people throughout their lives.

“It’s wonderful to see so many young Glaswegians engaging with this year’s reading challenge, and I would urge all young residents to visit their local library to take part.”
