Recognition for a job well done

Pupils from across East Renfrewshire have been honoured for outstanding achievements during the school year.

More than 50 individual and team awards were handed out at The Convener’s Awards for Outstanding Achievement — an East Renfrewshire Council ceremony held at Carmichael Hall, Eastwood Park.

Pupils were nominated by their schools, and each received an award and certificate from councillors Elaine Green and Paul O’Kane, convener and vice-convener of education and equalities.

Councillor Green said: “I would like to congratulate every one of our outstanding pupils — they all very much deserve their awards.

“It has been a pleasure and an inspiration to hear of their achievements and to honour their hard work and commitment.

“Every year the Convener’s Awards are truly inspiring and this year was no exception.

“Very well done to them all. They are a credit to themselves and everyone in their school is rightly proud of them.”

Award categories included creativity, extra-curricular, sports leadership, advocacy, community service, independent living skills, sports and volunteering.

All seven of East Ren’s secondary schools and Isobel Mair School were represented at the ceremony, and the award-winning pupils were joined by councillors, proud family members and invited guests.
