Record turnout for fun-filled Lenzie Jubilee Gala

CROWDS thronged the streets of Lenzie at the weekend to enjoy a right royal knees-up.

The Lenzie Jubilee Gala kicked-off with a parade from Lenzie Station to Lenzie Rugby Club.

Guest of honour was Lenzie’s very first Gala Queen from 1979, Heather Findlay, who crowned this year’s queen, Ellie Cook.Ellie was joined by maids of honour Kirstin Mitchell, Eva Curran, Kiela Trotter and page boy Louis Douglas.

There was plenty to keep visitors entertained including performances by Irish dancers, a group of women drummers, a mobile adventure unit, and much more.

Lenzie Community Council organised the gala and believe it was a record turn-out.

The group’s Liz Ibbotson said: “There was something for everyone. The day had a real buzz about it.”
