Reels on wheels!

YOUNGSTERS at the Isobel Mair school and family centre are set for fame after a visit from a special Cbeebies guest.

Children’s television character Justin visited the Newton Mearns school this week, where the Something Special team filmed pupils making a tartan sash and shortbread for their guest, all in preparation for a ceilidh.

Justin was also shown how to Scottish country dance in a wheelchair, thanks to the Reels and Wheels dancers, who performed live to a ceilidh band.

Head teacher Mari Wallace said: “Everyone at the school was delighted to welcome Justin and the Cbeebies team to Isobel Mair to share our reels and wheels dancing — it was a wonderful experience for all the youngsters.

“Reels and wheels is a rich, sensory experience for our pupils and they really benefit from it.

“The children love whizzing around to the music in their wheelchairs.
“And it’s especially good when there’s an audience clapping and och aying – as there are lots of smiles from them”.
