Remembrance at the double in Elsrickle

AS the whole of the country gathered to pay their respects to the Fallen on Armistice Day, one tiny Clydesdale village also paid tribute – at two separate war memorials.

At one of the smallest gatherings in the country 10 people came to pay their respects at the war memorial at the top of the village, which bears only three names.

David Taylor, who owns the cottage next to the memorial, started holding the ceremony a decade ago.

To find out why, don’t miss this week’s Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is in the shops now.
