Residents call for action to tackle park litter louts

There were calls this week for a crackdown on youngsters who are dropping litter in a popular park.

Angry residents say that Woodhead Park, in Kirkintilloch, has been targeted by youngsters on a daily basis since the start of the school holidays.

Plants have been uprooted, while drinks cans, food packaging and other rubbish are left to blight the picturesque sitting area.

One resident told the Herald: “I see them there every day and they have no respect whatsoever.

“Their parents should be absolutely ashamed of themselves - letting their children get away with acting like animals.

“Something needs to be done to stop them vandalising the park.”
