Residents consulted on
road restriction plans

Glasgow City Council is consulting southsiders on two major Traffic Regulation Orders which could introduce new restrictions across the area.

In Battlfield South, plans to introduce waiting restrictions affecting areas including Arundel Drive, Battlefield Road, Brisbane Street, Carmichael Place, Cartvale Road, Ledard Road and Sinclair Drive.

A statement by GCC’s land and environmental services explained the move was: “To facilitate safe passage of traffic on the road, and preserve or improve amenities in the area.”

If the plan — available to view online or at city chambers — goes ahead, anyone who parks in a restricted area will face a £60 fine, reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days.

The Pollokshaws Streamline plan to improve bus services is also up for consultation.

The plan includes new 24-hour bus lanes on Eglinton Street and Pollokshaws Road, relocation of bus stops and new parking restrictions on Pollokshaws Road, Minard Road, Langside Avenue, Deanston Drive and Kilmarnock Road.

There will be new taxi ranks at Langside Avenue and Kilmarnock Road, if the Streamline plan goes ahead.
