Road closure as firefighters battle Bishopbriggs blaze

Firefighters battled through the night to bring a blaze at a barn in Bishopbriggs under control. -

Crews donned breathing apparatus as they tried to extinguish dozens of flaming hay bales.

Firefighters were still at the scene this morning - more than 12 hours after the blaze took hold of the barn around 7.20pm last night.

Emergency services had to close Balmore Road, near to Balmuildy Road, as they dealt with the incident.

A police spokesman said this morning (Thursday) investigations were continuing into the cause of the fire.

Motorists have been urged to avoid the area.
