Roadworks on A702 at Brownsbank

ROADWORKS will take place both tonight and tomorrow evening on the A702 at Brownsbank on the outskirts of Biggar.

Maintenance work to improve the road surface, both north and southbound, will take place between 8pm and 6am on both nights.

The trunk road will be closed while the work is taking place and traffic will follow a signed diversion via the A721 and the A72.

Southbound traffic will be directed to leave the A702 at the A721 travelling via the A701 to the A72 just north of Biggar then re-joining the A702.

Northbound traffic will use this same diversion route in reverse.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: “This essential maintenance represents an investment of £40,000 by Transport Scotland to ensure the 1,500 motorists or so using this stretch of the A702 every day experience greater journey time reliability, improved safety and comfort.”
