Rob Roy boss and pub team up to aid elderly

A pub and restaurant manager has teamed up with Stewart Maxwell, manager of Rob Roy FC in Kirkintilloch to provide hot soup for elderly and 
vulnerable residents in Auchinloch.

Scott Mackie, who runs the Golden Pheasant in the village has set up a crowdfunding page to raise funds to supply essential supplied during the Covid-19 lockdown.

He posted: “At least as important as the soup itself is for people in self-isolation to see a friendly face dropping off something for them. We want them to know they are not forgotten about.

“With more funding we can deliver more soup to more people and hopefully supply subsidised essential shopping like antibacterial soap, milk and bread, and maybe some fish and chips!” He said it would not be a weekly shop but it would mean one less, potentially life threatening trip to shops for the most vulnerable.

Scott and Stuart hope to expand their delivery to Lenzie, Kirkintilloch, Milton of Campsie and Stepps. To donate, visit
