Rocky Horror Show at Vogue, Lanark

TWO grown men wore suspenders and fishnet tights at Lanark's Vogue Cinema, during a night of fun and frolics watching cult movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The evening — a fundraiser for next month's Carnwath Red Hose Race — saw the brave blokes dress up as the show's lead character, transvestite Frank N Furter.

"The night was great fun," said organiser Melanie Irving, of Friends of the Red Hose Race committee. "It couldn't have gone any better.

"We are very grateful to Vogue Bingo owner Martin Carroll for his hospitality.

"Nobody in the crowd of 70 could believe it when Martin appeared on stage wearing suspenders and fishnet tights when Time Warp was playing!"

People travelled from as far afield as Kilmarnock to watch the film starring Meat Loaf, Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon.

"Most of the crowd made an effort by dressing up," Melanie said. "We had another Frank (wearing suspenders, high heels, bustier and red boa) and a Meat Loaf, while I was Janet."

The organisers also re-enacted a famous Rocky Horror Picture Show scene, where Janet walks outside and holds a newspaper above her head to shield her from the rain - handing out water pistols and newspapers to the crowd.

The event raised 100 for funds for the Red Hose Race, which will be held at Sir John Mann Park in Carnwath on Saturday, June 19.
