Safety first for Barrhead firm

A SAFETY-conscious firm from East Renfrewshire has had its precautionary safety measures recognised by winning an award.

Barrhead-based civil engineering contractors, George Leslie Limited, have been awarded a gold medal from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) in recognition of its approach to accidents and ill health.

The company received the gong at a ceremony in Glasgow’s Hilton hotel last Thursday.

The RoSPA gold medal recognises six consecutive years of excellent health and safety performances by the firm’s management.

George Leslie Ltd was founded in 1964 as a civil engineering and building contractor.

During the past six years the business has maintained a number of national accreditations for health and safety 
and engaged with its workforce on health and safety matters.

Managing director John McNaught said: “The award is testimony to the hard work and energy of the company employees and supply chain partners.”

While David Rawlings, the awards manager at RoSPA, said: “We congratulate George Leslie Ltd on its success.”
