Safety first for Loren

A SCHOOLGIRL from Cumbernauld won this year’s competition to design a road safety calendar.

The long-running contest now organised by North Lanarkshire Council saw a record 70 schools and 8000 children submit designs they hoped to see used in the 3000 wall calendars that are sent to all schools and public offices. There is also an e-calendar.

Loren Young, a P6 pupil from St Andrews Primary School in Cumbernauld, finished top of the heap with her entry deemed the overall winner by the panel of judges, who represented the emergency services and the council.
