Salvation Army helps those who need it most

FOR most of us Christmas is a happy time. Catching up with family and friends, exchanging gifts, eating fine foods and snuggling up in our homes to watch festive films.

But for a lot of people in this area, the festive season is not one which evokes happy memories.

Many people are alone or in poverty, and they continue to suffer in silence until organisations like The Salvation Army steps in.

The organisation has just finished yet another successful Christmas Present Appeal which works by giving donations of gifts from members of the public to those who need it most.

Gifts are donated for children up to 16 years old and distributed across Cumbernauld and Kilsyth to those families living in poverty.

For the full story on the work the organisation does in the area throughout the festive season, see this week’s Cumbernauld News or Kilsyth Chronicle dated Wednesday, December 19.
