Sawn Inn helps Macmillan Cancer Support
Staff and customers at the Swan Inn in Banton pulled out all the stops to raise an amazing £1,035 from a coffee morning – staged as part of Macmillan cancer support’s annual appeal, which centres heavily on exactly this kind of grass roots community initiative.
Organised by local woman Janis Docherty with help from local people the event expanded beyond a straightforward coffee morning to become a social event which included home baking and raffle prizes. The net result was a still more impressive sum than last year, when the total was around £800. Janis said the enthusiasm and support of the Swan Inn, staff and local residents all helped make the occasion a fantastic success.
