Say no to Payday loans say politicians

Eastwood’s MSP Ken Macintosh and MP Jim Murphy have joined with Citizen’s Advice Scotland to launch a new campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of payday loan debt.

Ken Macintosh said:“Of those who are looking for help, one survey showed that the average debt here in East Renfrewshire runs to more than £14,000, way above the figures for the rest of Scotland.

“This is an important campaign from the CAB which aims to make sure families turn to safe and sensible lending over Christmas and tries to help us all enter 2014 free of crisis debt”.

MP Jim Murphy added:“I would urge people to shop around before signing up for unscrupulous payday loans. I know these loans can seem seductive to people facing financial pressure but in many cases the loans rack up debts and store up trouble”.
