Scam workies alert

POLICE are urging members of the public to be alert to a bogus caller operating in Cumbernauld.

On Tuesday, May 3, a male attended the house of an 86-year-old female in Fleming Road, Cumbernauld. The man obtained a three figure sum of money after pretending to have carried out work which he hadn’t done.

The male was described as having a Glasgow accent and was wearing a dark t-shirt and dark trousers.

In a similar incident between 2pm and 2.30pm on Wednesday, May 4, a male attended at the address of a 65-year-old female in Clouden Road and entered into a conversation regarding carrying out work on the property.

The male then distracted the occupier before unsuccessfully attempting to steal from her.
