Scholarship win for Cumbernauld student

A Cumbernauld Village woman who hopes to be one of the Scottish tourism ambassadors of tomorrow has scooped a £3600 cash windfall after impressing judges with her hard work.

Jade Ann McGhee (26) of Kirkwall is now the proud recipient of a Moffat Scholarship which provides financial assistance for students who are studying travel and tourism.

The former Cumbernauld High School pupils studies at the Moffat Centre for Travel and Tourism Business Development at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Locals who have always love their holidays in the sun may be interested to know that the family behind the trust established the travel giant AT Mays which started in Ardrossan but had its own Cumbernauld branch for many years.

And it’s thanks thanks to them that Jade Ann picked up this generous sum.
