School mergers being looked at tonight (Monday) – schools in Kirkintilloch, Lenzie and Bishopbriggs involved

PLANS have been unveiled to merge primary schools across East Dunbartonshire.

A shortlist of options is being presented to councillors at a special meeting tonight (Monday).

The options include:

* Auchinairn and Woodhill primaries merging, with a new school built at either site.

* Balmuildy, Meadowburn and Wester Cleddens primaries merging, with a new school built at either Balmuildy or Meadowburn.

* Lenzie and Lenzie Moss primaries merging, with a new school built at Lenzie Moss.

* Lennoxtown and Craighead primaries merging, with a new school built at Craighead.

* St Agatha’s and St Flannan’s primaries merging, with a the new school built at St Flannan’s.

* Gartconner, Harestanes, Hillhead and Oxgang primaries merging, with a new school built at either Oxgang or St Flannan’s.

* Merkland Primary would be accommodated in a specialist unit at one of the new build Kirkintilloch schools.

* Torrance and Baldernock primaries merging, with a new school built at Torrance.
