School security review after summer break-ins

A SECURITY review is being carried out at a high school which has been targeted by criminals over the summer holidays.

Kilsyth Academy was broken into on Monday, August 8, between 9.15pm and 9.40 pm after thieves gained access through a broken window.

The intruders made off with an unopened box of materials which had recently been delivered to the school.

The stolen items were later recovered discarded in a nearby garden and North Lanarkshire Council confirmed no damage was caused other than broken glass.

The latest break-in follows an incident which happened on July 19, although no property was stolen, there was broken glass.

A North Lanarkshire Council spokesperson said: “A review of school security is currently ongoing and we appeal for anyone with information to contact the police.”
