School’s out for hard-working sixth year pupils at Barrhead and St Luke’s

Pupils from Barrhead High and St Luke’s have celebrated the end of their schooldays as S6 students from both schools marked the occasion in style at their graduations.

St Luke’s graduates were joined by former depute head Christopher Smith, now head of a Dumbarton school, who was invited back as guest speaker and presenter of awards.

Graduates were presented with their East Renfrewshire Council diploma of achievement awards gained over the year.

St Luke’s head teacher Patricia Scott said: “The class of 2015 have been a great credit to St Luke’s High School and community, and wonderful ambassadors for the excellent education they have received in East Renfrewshire.

Barrhead High pupils were joined by director of education Mhairi Shaw to celebrate the end of the pupils’ schooldays. Pupil Kierran Adams was also presented with the Rotarian Citizen of the Year Award by Iain MacPherson of Barrhead Rotary Club, who is also a former head teacher of Barrhead High. It was then on to a Glasgow hotel for dinner and entertainment.

Head teacher Mr Sinclair said: “We wish them all the best as they make their way out into the wider community.”
