Scotland star signs for GHA

GHA have put pen to paper with the signing of former Scotland centre Andy Henderson for next season.

Despite relegation to Premier Three being a distinct possibility for the Braidholm club, GHA are making every effort to ensure they bounce back.

The 16-stone former Glasgow Warrior played 53 times for Scotland, scoring eight tries.

This could signal the start of a devastating combination at centre for the southside club, with Mr Henderson playing inside the strong-running Niall Cassie, who is the club’s captain.

The outside centre told The Extra: “It has been a few years since we have attracted a player of his calibre, but this is a very exciting sign that Andy chose us over other higher-placed clubs.

“I cannot wait to play in the same team as him”.

In other encouraging news for southside rugby supporters, James Eddie made his return to competitive action for Glasgow Warriors on Friday.

The former GHA back row forward, who attended Belmont House School, featured in Friday’s draw with Newport Gwent Dragons after almost a year on the sidelines with a shoulder injury.

His coach Sean Lineen said: “James has been out for a long time, I really feel for the lad.

“I’m a big fan of his. He’s a good ball carrier and is the heart and soul of Glasgow. I know he will give us everything”.
