tootle.co.uk, the online car selling platform, surveyed 1000 people in the UK who have sold a used car in the last year.

The research showed a staggering 61 per cent of people dread the thought of selling their car across the whole of the UK - nearly a quarter of people admitting they have had a bad experience selling a used car.

However, the survey showed that 84.72 per cent of people in Scotland had the best experience of selling a car compared with other UK regions including Northern Ireland, South East, East Midlands and Wales.

Furthermore,it was women who showed the most scare for the used car market. When asked what elements of selling a used car they have found most stressful, the fear being ripped off, haggling and dealing with potential buyers came back with the highest results.

This research coincides with the launch of tootle’s new online platform, which allows sellers to advertise their car to a network of dealers - creating competition to get them the best trade-in price for their car.

Sellers simply need to create a short profile for their vehicle (which can be done in a matter of minutes from a smartphone) and then it is put out to hundreds of dealers around the UK.

By connecting the seller to multiple potential dealers, many of the tootle aims to remove the stress of haggling, dealing with potential buyers and most importantly, the fear of being ripped off.
