Scottish SPCA appeal for information after two rabbits found in Glasgow

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after two rabbits were discovered in Richmond Park.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted by a member of the public who spotted the two rabbits, one black and one agouti, on March 5.

Scottish SPCA animal rescue officer Elizabeth Lindsay said, “We are unsure whether these two rabbits have escaped from their home or have been purposefully abandoned.

“Thankfully they don’t appear to have any signs of injury and are currently being cared for by the staff at our centre in Glasgow.

“If anyone in the area recognises them or has any information on who may have possibly abandoned this pair we would urge you to call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”

Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006. Anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
