Search for two suspected killers goes Europe-wide

TWO men wanted in connection with murders in Bishopbriggs and Robroyston are being hunted in Spain.

The search for Derek McGraw Ferguson and William Paterson has been widened out to the south of Spain.

Derek McGraw Ferguson (pictured) is alleged to have shot dead Thomas Cameron outside the Auchinairn Tavern on June 28, 2007. Strathclyde Police has been actively seeking Ferguson in relation to this murder for over five years.

Meanwhile, William Thomas Robert Paterson is wanted in relation to the murder of Kevin ‘Gerbil’ Carroll on January 13, 2010.

Strathclyde Police has been looking for Paterson in relation to the murder for more than two years. The force recently held a joint press conference with Crimestoppers in Madrid to once again appeal for information.

Officers from Strathclyde Police have been working alongside Spanish colleagues on the ground in southern Spain.

They have spoken to locals and business owners to hand out a Crimestoppers leaflet, printed in Spanish, with pictures of the two men and an appeal for information.

Chief Superintendent John Cuddihy, head of Serious and Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism, said: “Strathclyde Police has an excellent working relationship with law enforcement in Spain and we will continue to work closely together to ensure that Spain will be a hostile environment for fugitives.

“We will do everything possible to trace both fugitives, bring them to justice and remove them.

“There is no doubt in my mind that to evade police for this period of time both these men have been receiving assistance from associates who live in these areas.

“I have no information that either of them pose any direct threat to the safety of the Spanish public, however, the crimes they are wanted in connection with are extremely violent.

“I would urge the public not to approach them at all, but if they see them or have any information as to their current whereabouts, then please phone the Crimestoppers number immediately.
