Secondary school pupil attacked in Cumbernauld

A 15-year-old schoolboy had to be rushed to hospital after he was targeted after leaving the school for his lunch break on Wednesday, October 26.

Police have confirmed that the S4 pupil who attends Greenfaulds High School was set upon between 12.30pm and 1pm .

The alleged incident happened near the Day To Day store in Seafar’s Westray Road

Reports also suggested that a knife had been used but police have stated that this was not the case.

They have confirmed however that the victim was struck in the face.

An ambulance was summoned to take the boy to Monklands Hospital and he was discharged on the same day, following treatment.

Police say that their enquiries are at an early stage.

The exact circumstances of the attack itself remain unclear as the school was unable to shed more light on whether the boy had been attacked by more than one person.
