Sheep attacked in Clydesdale

Euan Ferguson (35) rents farms in Carstairs and Yieldshields respectively – both of which have suffered attacks on sheep by dogs.

Two animals have been destroyed and another suffered serious injuries.

However, Euan has been frustrated by the lack of resources available to local police officers and feels let down.

He said: "Two of my livestock have died with another one injured and I still haven't had a response from the police.

"I feel this has to be highlighted to our local community as these attacks are of an extremely serious nature – and these dogs could potentially attack children or adults if their paths cross."

However, Clydesdale chief inspector Colin Murphy refuted claims that the police did not have enough resources to deal with both incidents.

He said: "A police officer has spoken to Mr Ferguson about both incidents.

"We would urge farm owners to be on their guard and be aware of this problem. This problem is purely down to irresponsible dog owners."
