Sheriff blames McRae for helicopter crash

THE deaths of those on board Colin McRae’s helicopter could have been avoided IF the rally ace had refrained from flying into Mouse Valley and had not been involved in low level flying when it was unsafe to do so.

That is the judgement of Sheriff Nikola Stewart at the end of a lengthy fatal accident inquiry into the deaths of Mr McRae (39), Graeme Duncan (36), Ben Porcelli (6) and Johnny McRae (5) in the crash near Jerviswood on September 15 2007.
