Silverburn’s success

IT LOOKS like being another bumper shopping weekend at Silverburn.

Staff are bracing themselves as 200,000 shoppers look set to descend on the southside mall on the last weekend before Christmas.

With just days to go before December 25, a combination of a rise in male shoppers, later trading hours and the beginning of the sales looks set to boost trade and footfall.

Centre director David Pierotti said: “Although last weekend looked set to be our busiest, Silverburn’s late opening hours this week has provided an out of hours shopping destination for last minute buyers – especially men.

“Some stores are open until 11pm which means shoppers have the chance to get a whole day of shopping even after the working day.

“Footfall is expected to peak this Saturday with an estimated 200,000 over the weekend.”

Some 440,000 shoppers visited the mall between December 17 and 21 – a new record for one week of trade at Silverburn.
