Sisters Moira and Kate walk the length of the River Clyde for charity
However, for two sisters, Moira Donoghue (52) of Cleghorn and Kate Cowan (66) of Rigside their walking trip `Doon the Watter’ went on - and on - for just over 128 miles.
In fact, the girls walked the whole length of the river from its source near Elvanfoot all the way to the sea at Ardmore Point!
But why subject themsleves to this five day long marathon?

And Moira added: “And don’t think it was all like our local stretch of the Clyde Walkway. Some of it was really rough territory and sometimes we had to go miles out of the direct route through really rough territory.
“But we got there.”
They certainly did AND they raised a superb £1460 for their chosen cause, which Children’s Hospice Association Scotland fundraising organiser Nicola Gunn happily came to the Gazette office to accept from the girls.
