Sisters Sarah and Sharron Lithgow run 10k for Breast Cancer Care

INSPIRED by their mum and her life-saving best friend, two Lanark sisters will be putting on their running shoes for charity.

On May 26 Sarah and Sharron Lithgow will run the 10k event in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

The charity has a special significance for them both.

Their mum’s best friend Christine Arnott was firstly diagnosed with breast cancer eight years ago.

As a result of that, their mum Eileen was diagnosed a few months later.

Christine persuaded Eileen to attend a breast screening service at a local supermarket – even though she wasn’t experiencing any symptoms.

A lump was found during the screening which turned out to be cancerous.

After a successful operation Eileen was given the all clear.

While Christine’s cancer returned, after further treatment she too was given the all clear.

Inspired by their courage, marketing assistant Sarah and pharmaceutical rep Sharron decided to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care.
