Six members of 4th Carluke Boys Brigade are presented with their Queen’s Badges

SIX boys from 4th Carluke (Kirkton) Boys’ Brigade have been presented with their Queen’s Badges for outstanding achievement.

It’s the highest award that can be gained in the movement - and the youngsters, Robert Cunningham, John Kennedy, Graham Kidd, Fraser Montgomery, Stewart Murphy and Greg Pollock, received them at Kirkton Church recently.

Kirkton BB captain, Eleanor Selfridge, said: “They have all done so well.

“There is a lot to do to achieve it including 30 hours of community service which saw them work in charity shops and other ways in helping the local community.

“They deserve a huge amount of credit for the work they put in - it is not easy for 17 and 18-year-old boys to find them time while studying for their Highers or having a job.”
