Ski centre in Leadhills given green light

INSTEAD of skiing in the Cairngorms, snow seekers will soon be heading to Clydesdale after planning permission was granted for a ski centre in Leadhills.

The first to be built in the south of Scotland, it will see applicants Lowther Hill Ski Club construct a new clubhouse, toilets, engine house and rope tow to facilitate downhill skiing.

And Ski Club chairman Anjo Abelaira remains hopeful that the centre can be finished by the end of the year.
