Slideshow: Cumbernauld lights up with firework display

The event again drew a crowd of thousands who wanted to take advantage of an event on the grand scale which is conducted in conditions of absolute safety.

Organised by North Lanarkshire Council, the giant display passed without incident.

It’s another example of why fire chiefs advise locals to seek out organised bonfire displays where only experienced technicians handle fireworks.

The event always takes place the night before Guy Fawkes night to accommodate the council’s flagship display at Strathclyde Park.

Thankfully fire chiefs had nothing to report regarding any mishaps with fireworks or bonfires by time of going to pres
