Slideshow of Remembrance Day events in Clydesdale 2012

IN towns and villages throughout Clydesdale at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, people paid silent tribute to the dead of two World Wars and the conflicts since.

In Lanark, for the fifth year in succession, the public and uniformed organisations stood outside the Memorial Hall, this year watched by contractors on the scaffolding as the renovations grind on slowly.

There was also a massive attendance at Biggar. “It was an amazing turnout,” said local councillor Hamish Stewart, whose son is serving in Afghanistan.

Carluke too welcomed a large mixture of all ages.

“I think it was one of the largest turnouts we have had,” said Provost Eileen Logan, who was among those laying wreaths.
