SNP man for south hits out at tax avoiders

Glasgow South candidate Stewart McDonald is taking a stance against tax avoidance following more than 100 emails from constituency voters.

The SNP candidate said: “I’ve had numerous emails from voters who are looking to find out my position and views on a whole range of issues, but this has so far been the one issue that I’ve had most emails about.

“Everyone understands that we pay taxes to pay for the most basic public services: roads, hospitals, schools or the police. Unbelievably, in some sections of society, people who also use these services have started to think that this doesn’t apply to them — it’s unacceptable and has to stop.”

He added: “If elected, I will be relentless in pushing towards prosecuting tax avoiders instead of bedroom tax victims as a first step towards changing that whole culture.”
