Solas Festival in Wiston

POLITICS met pop at Wiston Lodge as the inaugural Solas Festival took place in the Clydesdale sunshine.

Festival goers lapped up performances from the likes of husband and wife duo McIntosh Ross, Stanley Odd and Peatbog Faeries.

But they also had the chance to speak to politicians and activists including former International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander and climate change activist Dan Glass.

Solas vice-chairwoman Dot Reid said: "There has been overwhelmingly positive feedback from those who attended as well as the contributors themselves.

"We are hoping that word of mouth will spread and the festival will attract a lot more people next year."
