Sophie savours a taste of stardom
Sophie Sweeney (15), from Bishopbriggs, recently played her last game at under-15 level with a 1-1 draw against England in the Bob Doherty Trophy.
The Bishopbriggs Academy pupil has been playing in the tournament for Scotland for the last five months, making her mark with two goals in a 6-0 victory over Wales.

She said: “I played well, I held the ball up well, I think that’s one of my strengths as a player.
“It was disappointing not to get the win against England in our last game, but all round it was a good season.
“And although we were not able to win the Bob Doherty Trophy again like last year, it was still a good effort.”

And team manager David Thomson has tipped her for success in the future.
