Souper work by local lunch club

The hard work of a local lunch club has been praised by East Renfrewshire MP Paul Masterton.

Soup Stop located in Bourock Parish Church, Barrhead will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year and will use the landmark to add to the £70,000 they have already raised.

Over the past decade for various charities, including Alzheimer’s Scotland and Macmillian Cancer Support.

Mr Masterton submitted an Early Day Motion in Westminster, congratulating them on their fund-raising.

Mr Masterton said: “Since my election, I have been struck with the amount of voluntary work that goes on, mostly unnoticed, in East Renfrewshire.

“Hundreds of people in the constituency put countless hours in to make life easier for people less fortunate than us.

“Organisations such as Soup Stop are a credit to our constituency and have raised a monumental amount of money for charities.

“I hope my small gesture will help raise awareness of the project further and help them hit their goal of £80,000 before the end of 2018.”
